Residential Trash Service Do’s and Don’ts

To ensure proper trash removal and responsible waste management, please note the following do’s and don’ts of Carolina Waste & Recycling:

  • If the address provided is off a dirt/gravel road, it is at the discretion of our driver whether Carolina Waste & Recycling will be able to service the address based on road conditions (i.e., brush properly trimmed back, roads properly graded). This is to ensure not only the safety of our drivers but also our equipment.
  • If for any reason service with Carolina Waste & Recycling is terminated, you will be asked to leave cans out for removal, EMPTY. If there is any trash within the can(s) upon the driver’s arrival it will be left behind.
  • If you missed your pickup day, an additional pickup can be scheduled, however, there is a $40.00 fuel charge/dumping fee.
  • Payment is required on the 1st of every month. You will receive 1 courtesy call for payment. If payment is not received, you will receive 1 courtesy pickup until payment is made.

Residential Trash Service Do’s

  • DO bring your can out and place by the road by 6pm the night before your pickup day
  • DO place can(s) at curb with handles and wheels facing away from the road, if you have more than one can, please leave at least 4 feet between the cans to allow our arm trucks proper access OR place one can on either end of your driveway

  • DO call the office at least 24 hours before your pickup day to notify us of any extra trash. For additional bags outside of the can there is a $3.00 fee per bag.
  • DO bag any and all trash!
  • DO recycle all reusable materials including glass, plastic, metal, cardboard, NO STYROFOAM.
  • DO break down all cardboard for recycling! Your lid MUST close.

Residential Trash Service Don’ts

  • DON'T block your can.
  • DON’T overfill your can! Your lid MUST close. If there is trash that doesn’t fit, please call the office letting us know there will be extra trash out on your day of pick up. For additional bags outside of the can there is a $3.00 fee per bag. This can also cause bags of trash and recyclables to become stuck in the can. Our drivers are NOT responsible for trash/recycling that is stuck within the can and they are NOT required to remove trash/recycling by hand for their own health and safety.
  • DON’T place loose yard waste or any organic materials in your can. We offer weekly yard waste pickup for an additional $20.00 per month.
  • DON’T dispose of any prohibited materials (Hazardous waste/paints/liquids, oil/oil filters, tires, cement, dirt/fill, asbestos, electronics/rechargeable batteries)
  • Bulk items can be picked up for an additional fee. Please call the office (910-742-3001) in advance to schedule any bulk item pickups.
  • If the office is not notified prior and the bulk item is left out on your pickup day, IT WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.
  • If you see your recycling going into the same truck as your garbage, there’s a good reason. Carolina Waste & Recycling uses a Split-Body trash collection vehicle.

These unique trucks have a dividing wall within their bodies. While garbage and recycling are dumped through a single hopper there are 2 pistons that compact materials to opposite sides of the body allowing us to pick up and separate garbage and recycle at the same time!

Thanks to our split-body garbage and recycling collection vehicles we are able to:

  1. Increase collection, speed, and efficiency. Instead of sending two different trucks on the same route, one split-body truck can do all the work!
    2. Have fewer trucks traveling through your neighborhood, cutting down on noise and traffic.
    3. Decrease the amount of fossil fuels needed to power our fleet.

PLEASE NOTE:
YOUR BINS ARE PROPERTY OF CAROLINA WASTE & RECYCLING!

  • We take pride in our design and ask customers of Carolina Waste & Recycling that you please NOT alter the appearance of our bins in any way (i.e., removing CWR logos/painting bin/lid).
  • If it is brought to our attention that one of our bins has been purposely altered (i.e., missing CWR logo/painted bin/lid) you will be charged $150.00 for the damages/delivery/and replacement of the original bin.
